PLC & DCS PROGRAMMING
Our engineers have decades of experience developing and maintaining PLC and DCS programs in Midstream and RNG industries, as well as many others including specialty chemical, power, food and beverage, and discrete manufacturing.
We have experience with most of the common automation controller brands including:
Rockwell / Allen Bradley
Siemens / PCS7
Emerson / DeltaV
ABB
Yokogawa
Modicon
Further, we have developed extensive control libraries for Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs for Process applications. These libraries boast features that exceed those available from any modern DCS platform. These features include auto-connecting function blocks (i.e. no need for function block wiring), automatic integrated cross referencing (any tag knows what logic references it), scalable interlocking, and true object oriented data structures. The result is simplified application code for pumps, valves, and PID controllers that is simple to troubleshoot, maintain, and extend.
MODERN HMI APPLICATIONS
We develop HMI applications that go beyond traditional process displays. Our engineers strive to design and implement process control interface systems that deliver modern functionality such as:
Controller-Based, Zero Configuration, Interlock Displays: the HMI parses PLC logic in real-time to display the configured interlocks. Any logic change in the controller is instantly reflected on the HMI.
Tag Search: find any tag simply by typing any part of its name.
AD-Hoc Historical Trending: click any object to build trends instantly.
Multiplatform: Access the HMI from the control room, or via mobile devices from anywhere: either within or beyond the fence-line.
PCX Engineering has extensive experience with all major HMI platforms including:
AVEVA System Platform / OMI (Archestra)
AVEVA InTouch (Wonderware)
AVEVA PlantSCADA (Citect)
Inductive Automation Ignition (Vision and Perspective)
Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME, SE, and PlantPAx
Siemens WinCC
INDUSTRIAL NETWORKING
We excel in designing, implementing, and maintaining rock-solid reliable and secure networks for industrial operations. Modern networks require vastly more engineering and planning than the ‘plug-and-play’ unmanaged switch networks of the past. Our OT network engineers can help you:
Design air-tight security while still allowing remote access
Pass security certification and internal audits
Manage the segregation and interaction between business IT and plant OT networks
Implement network patching and maintenance programs
Reach 99.999% uptime (less than 6 minute annual outage)
Our engineers have decades of experience implementing Industrial Ethernet Networks and are experts in:
VLAN design and segregation
Redundancy technologies including DLR, REP, PRP, HSRP, and RSTP
Layer 3 Routing and switch hardening via ACL
Effective firewall implementation at each level of the Purdue model
IT / OT DMZ enabling access to plant data
Safe and secure remote access for operations and maintenance
Managing physical access for operations and vendors
